Finished off.....

I'd say that I've been finished off. Or maybe that I finished it off...

Incase you didn't hear:

...
With Chocolate Sauce
...
Only Mine Had Much More
....

Ever since then, it's been downhill.

I guess I'm still trying to stick too it, but I've become more lax. This one time I had pizza.
Did you know that tomato sauce has sugar in it?

I did.

Fail...

:[

I was in the mood for a snack while working in starbucks today, and as you probably can figure out, needed to go somewhere else to find something without sugar in it. So, I decided to head on over to the "corner store" to find something with no-added-sugar...

[note: this is not the corner store, it's just around the corner though]

After passing a whole bunch of people playing warhammer 4000 (don't ask?), I had a decidedly tough time finding a good snack. I guess that it's something about how much us college students love our poptarts, candy bars, energy drinks, donoughts, and microwavable dinners that's making my new life difficult. <_<

Anyway... I finally settled on some beef jerky. The operative word being BEEF, right? I bought it, came back to starbucks, ate a piece, put the second in my mouth, and then...
and then....
AND THEN....

My friend Sohee looks at the ingredients.

[This is Sohee... Ruiner of my Life... :p jkjkjlololozl]

She Reads,
"Ingredients: Beef, Corn Syrup, Dextrose, Less than 2% of Salt, Natural Smoke FLavor, Hydrolyzed Corn and Soy Protein, Flavorings, Water, Vinegar, Sugar, Molasses, Sodium Erythorbate, Soy Sauve, Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Caramel Color, and Sodium Nitrate."

and I'm devistated.

Oh well, I suppose everyone makes mistakes.
Today, mine was working with Sohee in Starbucks... :[

BIG Trouble

It turns out, I'm in bigger trouble than I thought.

Many (Most? All?) types of peanut butter have added sugar.
If you don't know me that well, I should probably inform you that I live off of peanut butter. There was one summer when my brother and I finished off 5 lbs of it every 2 weeks.

Needless to say,
THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM!!!!

I don't know how I'm going to live with peanut butter!!! It's always my backup! Always been there for me.... :[

No sugar please...

Yesterday (3/23/09), I decided to denounce sugar.
Completely.
I vowed never to imbibe the compound again.

Then, I realized that sugar is in a lot of stuff. I mean.... a lot. So...
I toned down my denunciation to exclude things like fruits only to realize that this created a very shady definition of what I can and cannot eat. What about aspartame?? or gum?? or fruit flavored things? or 95% 'juice'??

After pondering this for a bit, I came to my new resolution:

I vowed never imbibe nourishment with added sweetener.

I'm allowed to eat food with natural sugars, but diet coke? nope! It turns out that I like this version a lot more.
Why, is this version better? well simply put, it's not the sugar that's killing us (westerners), it's the idea. Making all food stuffs taste 'better' by lacing them with HF corn syrup is, well... misguided. Food tastes fine without adding tons of sugar, right? ...?

Well, as it happens, I live in the dorms at the University of Rochester, and eat the majority of my meals at campus dining halls. I did not think of this before I became resolved to remove everything with added sugar to it from my diet, and as it turns out, this is a BIG problem!

For dinner, I went to 'The Pit' (the UR burger, pizza, sub spot) and got a piece of BBQ chicken pizza
(only after the first few bites, did I realize BBQ sauce has sugar in it. oh well.... I guess we'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding), went for some yogurt, saw it had fructose syrup as an ingredient, sided with broccoli soup, and finally went to get a drink (usually a nice 'nutritious' vitamin water),
only to realize there's tons of added sugar!!!! I looked to the next drink over, pop,... no go..., next poweraid..... nope, the next, energy drinks... the next, more energy drinks, the next, bottled water.... I settled with some bottled water (mainly to appease my ailing sense of consumerism due to the loss of vitamin water from my diet!).

This is going to be tough.
